Progress Update 6





Hello everyone, it's been a while since my last progress report, so let's get right into it.
Overhauled the Mission System
I've completely overhauled the mission system. It doesn't look that much different from the old version, except from the UI. But, under the hood is a completely new logic and mission building system. I've just straight up deleted the old scripts from my game.
Why? Well, as it turns out, the old system was really bad. My ambitions for the mission system were just too confusing to introduce into my existing system, so I felt the best course of action was to start from scratch, applying what I've learned from last time. The old mission system was a few monolithic scripts which were a nightmare to maintain. The mission builder as well was just one long list of settings, most of which I never even used depending on what type of objective it was.
This new system is a lot cleaner. I've cut down on practically a third of the line count, and it's a lot less overhead since I've included a few sneaky tricks that I've learned. Objectives are their own assets. That means, instead of one long list of every possible objective setting, I build each mission like a set of building blocks - I just create only the objectives I need and slap them together in a parent mission asset. The main reason for this is because in the future, I'd like to make a system for user-made missions. This level of modularity will (hopefully) work well when I start work on that. Hopefully I'm not silently cursing myself then as I was now, re-making this new mission system.
NPC Behavior
NPCs also got some love. I was thinking of ways to make them more fair, and act differently. Before, they'd just move from target to target - now, they'll take a stop and rest, or wander about without a goal. When an NPC rests, they'll find a suitable rest spot and wait there. Soon, I'd like to introduce random variables of "awareness" - which will affect how easily an NPC will detect you. NPCs with their phones out or headphones on will be less likely to detect you from vision or sound respectfully.
Sabia
I've also added features to make Sabia feel more alive. Sabia will now glance at passing NPCs, and be more expressive. I added a heartbeat function - which fluctuates based on a combination of her clothing state, arousal, and actions. Her expression will also change based on her arousal and heartbeat. She will appear stressed out, aroused or just calm depending on the level of both of those modifiers.
That's about it.
I'd like to continue work on the mission system. There's still more I want to add before I move onto less important aspects. The game can still be completed in roughly 15 minutes, and I'd like to add a smidge more content before I release a demo. What I mean is there's still no missions that involve the park at all.
Finally, for those of you still reading, I'd like say thank you, genuinely. If you've read my other posts, you probably know by now that this is my first game, and yeah, I'll save that spiel for another day. I've gotten floods of likes and follows from Twitter, and heaps of follows from Itch as well. To those people, welcome! I really do appreciate everyone's support.
I've never had a project of mine reach this level of attention in any capacity, and I'm still unsure how to deal with the attention. I'll still post my dev logs while I can, and maybe post a small update on twitter every now and then. Progress has been slow as of late. I've been picking up extra overtime, and I switched from mid shift back to morning shift which completely destroyed my sleep schedule.

why i cant install the game
I've stated at the top of my main page that this game is a work in progress and no download is available yet, sorry.
